UNIVERSAL PRECAUTION (Bears & Food Waste):

We have had a lot of bears on school property recently feeding on various kids of student food waste and wrappers, both on the playground and at the front of the school. The bears are attracted to the large amount of discarded food waste and wrappers in our recycling bins and on the playground. This is both a student safety concern and also a conservation concern when the bears get used to human food waste.

Staff is working with our school PAC to come up with a better plan so that we do not attract bears on to school grounds. Staff are trying their best to remind ALL students at school, but it would be wonderful in you could also remind your children not to eat outside during recess/lunch and also to properly wash out food containers before putting them in the recycling bins.

Thank you for your support on this!
