FEBRUARY 4 – 8
GRADE 6 TRIAL DAY AT LEARNING EXPEDITIONS–The grade 6 students will be spending the morning in the Learning Expeditions classroom in preparation for the transition to grade 7 on Monday, February 4th.
GRADE 4-7 “3 on 3” CO-ED BASKETBALL – Any players interested in playing “3 on 3” co-ed basketball this year are encouraged to come out to practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15pm in the gym. The first game is on Tuesday, Feb 5th at 3:30pm at Stawamus. Permission forms were handed out today. Please return them before the game tomorrow.
AQUARIUM SLEEP OVER – Ms. Lowe’s class will be sleeping over at the aquarium on Wednesday, February 6th. The bus will depart at 7:15pm from the school and will return at 10:30am the following day.
HOT LUNCH will be on Friday, February 8th. Forms were handed out last week and today is the last day to hand them in.

PAC MEETING will be taking place on Wednesday, February 13th at 6:30pm in the Learning Expeditions Classroom.
LEADERSHIP VALENTINES CHOCOLATE SALE will be taking place at lunch on Thursday, February 14th. More detailed information will be available next week.
FINAL PROM PAYMENT DUE on Friday, February 15th, the $100 balance for prom is due to the office. Cash is the only accepted form of payment.

Quest University has created the Summit Scholarship for Engagement. This scholarship will provide students who have shown exceptional academic engagement the opportunity to attend Quest at a reduced cost. The award provides a $10,000/year scholarship for up to two students from any school in Canada. The award is renewable for up to 3 additional years of study, making the total scholarship value $40,000. Students must be nominated for this scholarship. Please see your counsellor for more details.
Capilano Community Leadership Award valued at $2,500. This award will recognize high school students who are entering the university with a strong academic standing as well as leadership and volunteerism in the community. Applications for the awards are now open. Information and eligibility criteria can be found on the Capilano University Entrance Awards webpage. Deadline: March 1, 2019. Please see your counsellor for more information.
NEUFELD FARMS FUNDRAISER-Order forms are now available in the office and have been sent home with grads. All orders and monies are due on Thursday, February 14. The pick-up date for the Neufeld Farm orders is on Monday, February 25 at 5:00 pm at HSS. Grads are responsible for picking up and delivering their orders. All orders must be paid with cash or cheque payable to “Howe Sound Secondary Grad.” Thank you for participating in the grad fundraisers

IN THE KNOW SESSION will be taking place at the Squamish Public Library on Monday, February 11th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Please see attached brochure for additional information.
REGISTRATION FOR THE SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL season is open. The registration site is new so please got tohttps://howesoundminorball.sportngin.com/register/form/542487022 to create your player’s profile. Google and Facebook sign-ins are also an option. As always, register by January 31, and you could win one of two early registration prizes: your registration fee back or a family 4 pack of tickets to a Vancouver Canadians baseball game. Baseball division registrations will close on March 15th and Softball divisions will close on March 31st. Please register before the deadline or we cannot guarantee an opportunity to play and late fees will apply. See you on the field!”
