Weekly Update – Dec 10-21th, 2018

Good Afternoon,

It is getting to be a very busy time of year! Please find below important dates to keep in mind for the next few weeks:

DECEMBER 10 – 14

OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP CLUB MEETING If your child had signed up for the Outdoor Leadership Club please attend a parent/student meeting on Monday, December 10th at 3:15pm in the Library. Please note that this club registration is now full.

GREEN THUMB THEATRE Cultural Journeys will be visiting Valleycliffe Elementary on Tuesday, December 11th at 11:00am to watch a presentation.

WINTER TLA’ASHEN – Will take place on Wednesday, December 12th from 5:00- 8:00pm. We invite all families to come and celebrate with us! If you are able, please bring a dish to share.

EAGLE WATCH TOUR Cultural Journeys will visit the Brackendale Dike on Thursday, December 13th from 9:30 – 11:30am to view and learn about the Eagles.

EXHIBITION NIGHT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP MARKET – Learning Expeditions will be showcasing their learning on Thursday, December 13th from 6:00- 8:00pm in the Gym. Some of our students will also be selling products of their own design at Exhibition Night. Come check out what these creative minds have come up with and find gifts and stocking stuffers for the holiday season!

CULTURAL JOURNEYS WINTER TLA’ASHEN MORNING PRESENTATION – If you are unable to join us on Wednesday for the Potlatch, we welcome you to join us on Friday, December 14th from 10:30-11:30am to see the Cultural Journeys students perform.

THE POLAR EXPRESS AT THE ADVENURE CENTRE – Ms. Lindsey and Ms. Jenna’s classes will be going to watch the Polar Express Movie on Friday, December 14th from 12:00-3:00pm.

CHRISTMAS COMMUNITY CARE PICKUP – The last day to donate to this program will be on Friday, December 14th.

GRAD PHOTO RETAKES will take place at Howe Sound Secondary on Friday, December 14th. Appointments can be booked online at www.mountainwest.ca

DECEMBER 17 – 21

WINTER GIFT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE will be once again hosted by our PAC at Lunch and for 30 minutes after school, in the Library from Monday, December 17th – 19th. We are now accepting donations of lightly used or new: accessories (jewellery, scarves, sun glasses) toys, books, and small household items (no clothing or shoes please). We will sell these items to the students for $1 per item and gift wrapping will be available. This will give students a chance to shop for Christmas gifts for their family and friends. ALICE LAKE LONG HOUSE VISIT  for Ms. Lowe’s class will take place on Tuesday, December 18th from 9:30 – 2:45pm. Please ensure your child wears weather appropriate clothing.

GINGERBREAD MAN DECORATING is on Wednesday, December 19th from 1:15pm – 3:00pm in the Gym for all students. Please send your child with a small bag of candy to decorate their gingerbread man. Families are welcome to join in the festivities.

SPIRIT DAY – is taking place on Friday, December 21st. Students are encouraged to wear green, red and white or festive hats.

WINTER BREAK The last day of school before winter break is on Friday, December 21st. The school will be closed for the winter break fromDecember 22 – January 6th. School will reopen on Monday, January 7th. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

FREE CODING WORKSHOP – The Squamish Public Library is hosting a coding workshop for students in gr. 3 – 6 on December 18th.  Please find additional information on the poster attached.

COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CARE – as in past years, we will be participating in the Community Christmas Care Program. From November 30th– December 14th, we will be collecting non-perishable food items or new toys, in the front entrance of the school. Please donate if you are able.
