Weekly Update for Nov 12-16, 2018

Good Afternoon,

Please find below important dates to keep in mind for the next few weeks:

NOVEMBER 12 – 16

STUDENT PHOTO ORDERS DUE on Tuesday, November 13th. Orders can be placed online at www.mountainwest.ca; follow the instructions on your proof sheet, or students can bring their order forms to their teachers.

GRADE 9 IMMUNIZATIONS are taking place on Wednesday, November 14th at 9:30am.

PAC MEETING is on Wednesday, November 14th at 6:30pm in the Learning Expeditions Classroom.

RAINBOW DAY – Take part in the second Stawamus Spirit Day by dressing up in your brightest outfit onFriday, November 16th!

CULTURAL JOURNEYS REPORT CARDS will be sent home with students on Friday, November 16th.

MOVIE NIGHT – is on Friday, November 16th. Doors open at 4:00pm and Ice Age, the movie, starts at4:30pm. This movie night is a fundraiser put on by the Learning Expeditions Students to help pay for our new mural in the school’s entrance hallway. Entrance to the movie is free but students will be selling baked goods for $2.00 and popcorn for $1.00 to raise money. There will also be a silent auction, to sell prints donated by the mural’s artist Raz. Please ensure that any students in Cultural Journeys have an adult present to supervise.


EARLY DISMISSAL/STUDENT LED CONFERENCESstudents will be dismissed early at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 21st to facilitate Student Led Conferences, that will take place from 3:00 – 6:00pm. I have attached a letter from our staff with additional information about the conferences. If you would like to book a student led conference, please contact Gayle in the school office at 604-892-5904 or a glaurie@sd48.bc.ca.

IN THE KNOW SESSION – FOUR STEPS CARE MODEL TO CONFLICT MANAGEMENT– This webinar will provide families who parent kids with mental health challenges with effective strategies for managing ongoing and severe caregiver/child conflict. This session takes place on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Please find additional information as well as who to RSVP on the attached poster.
