Weekly Update for Sept 17-28, 2018

SEPTEMBER 17 – 21

GRADE 6 IMMUNIZATION FORMS will be sent home on September 18th. Please ensure you sign and return the forms by September 21st. Immunizations will take place on October 3rd.

SEPTEMBER 24-28

EARLY DISMISSAL COLLABORATION DAYStudents will be dismissed early at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 26th. Bussing will be provided with theexception of Britannia Beach.

TERRY FOX RUN will take place on Thursday, September 27th at 11:00am. There will be a short assembly at 11:00am, followed by the run. Families are welcome to join us and we are looking for a few volunteers to assist with marshalling the run. If you would like to volunteer, please let the office know ahead of time and meet at the school office at 10:45am on Sept 27th. Pledge forms will be given out this week. (These are in your boxes)

ORANGE SHIRT DAY is on Friday, September 28th. Wearing an orange shirt and promoting the slogan, Every Child Matters, is an affirmation of our commitment to raise awareness of the residential school experience and to ensure that every child matters as we focus on our hope for a better future in which children are empowered to help each other.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION- GR. 12 STUDENTS

AES Engineering is offering a $500 scholarship to motivated students to help further their education. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. Please visit the AES Engineering website at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.php for application information. Application deadline is October 6, 2018.

The Loran Scholars Foundation is offering up to 138 awards across Canada to support students attending public Canadian universities. Applicants must be in their final year of full-time studies in high school, have a minimum GPA of 85% and be a Canadian citizen or hold permanent resident status. For more information and to apply, please visit the Loran Scholars Foundation website at www.loranscholar.ca/apply. Application deadline is October 17, 2018.

The Horatio Algers Association of Canada is pleased to offer 170 scholarships of up to $10,000 across Canada. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, be involved in extra-curricular and community activities, maintain a minimum GPA of 65% and be Canadian citizens residing in Canada. For applications and complete criteria, please visit the Horatio Algers website at www.horatioalgers.ca/en/scholarships. Application deadline is October 25, 2018.
