Important First Day(s) of School Information:

Tuesday, September 4th:9am-10am

Wednesday, September 5th:  9am-3pm

School Bus:

Our school bus service will be running on the first day of school.

School Bus information can be found at www.sd48.org. Students should take the bus to HSS, then switch busses to the Stawamus bus at the HSS bus loop. There will be an Educational Assistant on site at HSS to ensure that all students transfer on/off the right buses.

Class Assignments:

All homeroom lists will be posted inside the main hallway on the first day of school.

First Day Package:

Your child will be receiving a thick First Day Package that they will be bringing home for you to go through.  There will be many signatures required! Please do this on the first day and have your child return it to their teacher the second day.

School Supplies:

For School Supplies, we will once again be offering to purchase the supplies for your child at a cost of $30.  This will enable teachers to bulk purchase and provide the specific supplies they need for the year. Please send your cash or cheque, made out to Sea to Sky Learning Connections, for school supplies before Friday, September 7th.

PAC & Parent Volunteers:

Please know that you are always welcome in our buildings and consider joining us as a volunteer if you are able. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of success for their child.  With that in mind, we invite you to become an active participant in our schools by volunteering, joining our Parent Advisory Council (PAC), and attending school events. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Learning Expeditions classroom at Stawamus (except Dec & June).  There will be a sign-up form in the opening package that your child will bring home on the first day of school if you are interested.

The first PAC event of the year is a welcome gathering on the first day of school at Stawamus from 9-10am, while students are getting settled in their classrooms. We will be providing light refreshments and a chance for families to connect or reconnect after the summer. We look forward to seeing all parents and guardians who are able to join us!

Communication:

We are committed to using a variety of ways to communicate with families throughout the year including our “Weekly Principal Updates” on our school website seatoskylearningconnections.com, learning updates from teachers, weekly email blasts from the office (which provides reminders of meeting dates and upcoming events), our facebook page Sea to Sky Learning Connections and our twitter feed @S2SLearnConnect.  We will also be sending a variety of surveys home this year to gather input and/or feedback on school and learning items.
