On September 10, 2015 our new Programs of Choice Cultural Journeys and Learning Expeditions held their first school wide event: Learning Community Day.
Students, staff, and parents came together for a morning of activities where we collaborated on the questions: what is a learning community and what does it look, sounds and feel like.
We created pictures on a large wheel to visually represent what we want our Learning Community to look, sound and feel like.
Then we created words to represent our vision.
Then we selected our favourite words to represent our community’s ideas.
We placed all our favourite words on a final wheel.
Thanks to our District Principal of Aboriginal Education Susan Leslie for facilitating and Squamish Nation Education Department Culture and Language Worker Charlene Williams for organizing and leading our protocols, songs, and dances!
